If you are confused about how traditional media marketing is supported by modern online media, here’s a few things to think about:
Radio and Social Media:
More often than not consumers are researching their next purchase online. They can view products, customer feedback and satisfaction levels and even arrange finance for the purchase online too. Advertisers can track traffice to their sites allowing for greater than ever measurement of ROI.
Radio is consumed while listeners are doing other things, and so there is a great synergy between these two media options. Research by the Radio Advertising Bureau (UK) recently found that 86% shoppers compare prices on the internet, 60% researched prices online and then purchased in stores. It’s also been found that 1/5 users stream/listen to radio at the same time as listening to the internet.
How you can use both: Suggest the link to Facebook or Website in your ads instead of listing a phone number – it takes up less wordage, and the online option provides the details not able to be given in the 30-60 second commercial.
Newspaper and Social Media
If you are using the newspaper to advertise your event or product/service opportunity, you might like to consider that many people are increasingly getting their news online. In fact 24/25 major international newspapers have reported a decrease in circulation in recent years due to the internet. There are still many people who like to read in ‘black and white’ however, so when you are next placing an ad in the paper, remember to think about both options.
If you are being written about – via press release or advertorial - in the newspaper or magazines, people are very likely to look you up for more information online. They can easily Google your company or your name and get the low-down on what you’ve been up to. So it pays to keep your online presence looking sharp, clean and well presented.
How you can use both: Keep your Linked In profile up to date, and ensure you have some recommendations on display so that people can learn more about you in the most positive light possible. This is particularly helpful for service providers who are often checked out by interested potential clients before they call.
There are many ways to use online and offline media together – and both support each other well. It’s a simple matter of knowing that you can direct readers and listeners to obtain more information about you or your promotion by listing your Facebook, LinkedIn, You Tube or Website address in your advertising so that you can maximise the return.
Your Social Media marketing is mostly FREE once it’s been set up, or may cost a small fee for management, should you choose that option. However, the traditional media options such as Radio, Newspaper, TV etc, are expensive investments. Ensuring these are set up to be easily measured by your online results is a great way to provide forecasting opportunities for your marketing.
It’s a matter of fitting it all together – and there are many ways we can help with this at Total Media Magic – we are your online and offline marketing solutions specialists.
